Making Choices?

Coaching/Facilitation/Training can go hand in hand. These methods focus on building skills and attitudes so when your team is experiencing problems they are able to deal with the situation.  This could be a change, new project or business restructures.

How does it work at Your Way Forward?

It is a safe space provided for staff to grow in a relaxed and organised way and build on what they already know. This provides opportunities for:

  • People’s skills and attitudes to grow, have time to practice and be supported through change.
  • Workplace teams to go from where they are to where they want to go.
  • Acknowledging what is happening.
  • Incorporate kindness, cooperation, professionalism and productivity.
  • Getting back to basics and have practical solutions to work effectively with others.
  • Learning from up-to-date material from around the world.

Your Way Forward encourages lifelong learning and vision of developing a learning community in your organisation.

This business has associations with others, we do not offer counselling nor do we have psychologists on the team. It is all about the learning and growing.

How is facilitation different than other service professions?

Facilitation is about process, how you do something, rather than content, what you do. It involves movement from A to B, towards an agreed destination. A facilitator is a process guide, someone who makes a process easier or more convenient. Facilitation enables a group of people to achieve their own purpose in their own agreed way. The work ‘facilitate’ comes from the Latin ‘facile’ and means to make easy or more convenient. Dale Hunter, the art of facilitation.

How is coaching different than other service professions?

Professional coaching is a distinct service which focuses on goal setting, outcome creation and personal change management. Coaching is a profession that supports personal and professional growth and development based on individual-initiated change in pursuit of specific, actionable outcomes.

Coaching is forward moving and future focused. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow-through.

Facilitation and coaching sometimes overlaps. The idea is that individuals or teams are capable of generating their own solutions, with the coach or facilitator supplying supportive, discovery-based approaches and frameworks. Coaching and facilitation is without a set curriculum plan.

Therapy

Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or a relationship between two or more individuals. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past.

Consulting

Consultants may be retained by individuals or organizations for the purpose of accessing specialized expertise. While consulting approaches vary widely, there is often an assumption that the consultant diagnoses problems and prescribes and sometimes implements solutions.

Mentoring

Mentoring, which can be thought of as guiding from one’s own experience or sharing of experience in a specific area of industry or career development, is sometimes confused with coaching. Although some coaches provide mentoring as part of their coaching, such as in mentor coaching new coaches, coaches are not typically mentors to those they coach.

Training

Training programs are based on the acquisition of certain learning objectives as set out by the trainer or instructor. Though objectives are clarified in the coaching process, they are set by the individual or team being coached with guidance provided by the coach. Training also assumes a learning path which coincides with an established curriculum.
