Mention feelings and emotions and some people will run for cover. I always see the way I feel as my gifts that help me through life. Here are some ideas you could play with. What I do when others (or myself) get into this space.

She seems upset

I have learned that if someone is freaking out, the best way I can help is stay calm. If I join their story (and freak out too), I am unable to help. It is important for me to let them vent and then ask how I can help, or take time out if it has affected me.

Clarify to understand

Actively listening and feeding back what I have learned to clarify the problem also helps defuse the situation and show a consistently kind and caring approach.

Feeling agitated?

When I become ‘out of whack’ I know to walk away and only engage when I am centred.

It would be easy to blame someone else for how we feel, the truth for me is that I am responsible for my own feelings.
